Ouarzazate day trip from Marrakech

Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate day trip from Marrakech, It starts early, as we will leave Marrakech before 8.00 am. Our journey will take us through the High Atlas Mountains. The rugged beauty and height of these peaks will have you glued to the window of our minibus as we wind through the mountain roads.

Along the route, there are several Berber villages. We will have the opportunity to stop to photograph the high scenery and the Tizi n’Tichka pass, before heading to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. It will be another couple of hours until we get there, but the scenery will remain breathtaking throughout.

The Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is a fortified village that is home to a half dozen markets and merchants’ houses. This village is very popular with Hollywood film crews and production companies. You’ll see exactly why it’s a great setting for several films set in biblical times, ancient Arab legends or movies set thousands of years ago. Sodom and Gomorrah (1963), The Man Who Wanted to be King (1975) and The Jewel of the Nile (1985) all used the ancient fortified village of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou.

Our adventurous day on the shared 1-day excursion moves to Ouarzazate, where we will tour this city and see the film studios. In addition to the town of Ait benhaddou, Ouarzazate is also a popular location for film productions, many of which come here specifically for its ancient buildings, golden landscapes and breathtaking scenery.

One gets the feeling of having taken a trip back in time as you explore the ancient kasbahs, the golden clay buildings and don’t be surprised if you see a Hollywood film crew shooting a movie here.

The day trip to Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou will end in the afternoon in Marrakech.
