DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN CASABLANCA – RABAT

Departure to Fez, bordering the forests of the Rif to reach the Roman ruins of the city of Volubilis. We will have the option to visit the ruins with a local guide. Afterwards, we will continue to Meknes, a city that lived its golden age under the reign of Sultan Mulay Ismail. We will visit his mausoleum and the famous Bab Mansour gate. DAY 4: EXPLORE FEZ

Enjoy a free day in Fez, although a guided tour is highly recommended due to the unique characteristics of the city. As you enter the streets of its medina (old city), you will feel as if time is moving backwards: the guild structure is still at work, the narrowness of the streets limits transport to donkeys, and a constant bustle of people moves through the intricate alleys. You will be surprised by neighborhoods such as the Andalusians, as well as magnificent mosques and Koranic schools. Fez has always been linked to study and religiosity, remaining the spiritual capital of Morocco. DAY 5: FEZ – IFRANE – AZROU – MIDELT

Departure from Fez towards Midelt, crossing the Middle Atlas, where we find the city of Ifrane, known as the “Moroccan Switzerland” because of its architectural style, since it was founded by the French in the 20’s. We will pass through the national park known for its cedar forests, home to the famous Barbary monkeys. Arrival in Midelt. Night in a charming riad.

DAY 6: MIDELT – ZIZ VALLEY – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

Departure to Errachidia and the lush Ziz Valley, with its vast palm grove, to reach Erfoud, known as the city of fossils, where you can visit the quarries where they are extracted and then be worked and converted into various objects. We will pass through Rissani to finally reach the delicate sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Transfer to the hotel located at the foot of the dunes. Afternoon free to stroll through the Berber village or in the dunes. Dinner included.

DAY 7: MERZOUGA – KHAMLIA – RISSANI – DESERT ERG CHEBBI

After breakfast, we will head to the village of Khamlia, originally from Mali, where we will relax with tea while enjoying a small concert of Gnawa music. The inhabitants of Khamlia are descendants of former slaves of the caravans coming from southern Africa who settled in the area, making Gnawa music an art and their way of life.

We will continue our route in 4×4, we will leave to go around the dunes of Erg Chebbi, an expanse of sandy desert that houses the Great Dune of Morocco, with more than 250 meters high. This route connects with part of the route followed by the old Paris-Dakar, with the mountains bordering Algeria as a backdrop. We will stop at the oasis of Tissardmin and continue to a nomadic settlement, where we will learn some secrets of their life and customs. Then, we will stop at a panoramic viewpoint to contemplate the Erg Chebbi as a whole.

DAY 8: MERZOUGA – OUZINA

After breakfast, we will continue our journey south, in search of the incomparable Ouzina Valley, a place that can only be accessed through tracks and is anchored in the past, away from conventional tourist routes and where the electrical infrastructure has not yet arrived.This true paradise is far from civilization.Upon arrival, after enjoying a welcome tea, we will contemplate an unforgettable sunset from the top of the crest of the dunes.After dinner, we will relax to the rhythm of the drums with a small live performance by authentic Berbers.Dinner included.

DAY 9: OUZINA – DRAA VALLEY

Today it will be necessary to get up early to enjoy the sunrise from the top of the great dune.After breakfast, we will resume our journey, leaving behind Ouzina in the direction of the Strait of Maharch, crossing sand rivers, Berber villages, endless hamadas, until we reach the city of Alnif.
